Nevaeh Sauceda is a student designer committed to creating. She fell in love with creating, designing, and sewing back when she was gifted a sewing machine for Christmas.

“There have been times in my life when all I cared about was creating. Creating is one of those things I will always have to look forward to, in good and bad times.”

For Ringmaster, Sauceda was inspired by French mimes and clowns, something she channeled into her design.

“The shape of my shirt is a reference to a typical clown outfit. The buttons are covered in alternating white and black fabric, which is a reference to the classic black and white mime outfit.”

Sauceda found Ringmaster’s theme to be a deviation from her past work, something unusual, weird, and challenging.

“The clothes I’ve made before, Ringmaster, have never been as unusual as this piece was. I wanted to diverge from my normal creative process to challenge myself. The main challenge I encountered was my lack of drawing capability. My outfit sketches were not able to fully capture the vision I had for my outfit.”

Sauceda’s process required lots of detailed and tedious work, but she was committed to the process of creating.

“In my design, I included buttons extremely exaggerated in size [compared] to what you would typically see on a jacket or shirt. I actually had to make these buttons myself, and I am super proud of them.”

You can see Sauceda’s design in Roam’s 2025 fashion show, Ringmaster.
